American Airlines Unveils ‘Provisions by Admirals Club’ — A New Lounge Concept at Charlotte Douglas International Airport

In an ambitious step to elevate its premium guest experience, American Airlines will debut its first-of-its-kind Provisions by Admirals ClubSM lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in late summer 2025. The new lounge concept is another example of the airline’s ongoing evolution of its ground service to meet the rapidly changing nature of travel — speed, accessibility and personalization.

Conveniently situated in Concourse A, adjacent to Gate A1, the Provisions by Admirals Club lounge was created with the busy traveler in mind—someone who values good amenities but does not have time to sit in lounge furniture.Unlike traditional lounges, this new space is designed for short-duration visits, offering efficient layouts and quick-service features that allow passengers to make the most of their time between connections.

“We are constantly evolving our lounge strategy to meet the needs of our customers,” said Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American Airlines. “This new concept provides a needed respite for our customers traveling through one of our biggest hubs. Whether they’re looking for a quick snack or help on their travel journey, they can find what they need at the Provisions by Admirals Club.”

Prominent features of the Provisions by Admirals Club lounge include:

Personal Travel Support: On-site representatives are there for one-on-one travel assistance to help customers with their schedules, re-bookings, and inquiries.

Streamlined Food & Beverage Options: Travelers can relax and enjoy the menu of freshly made sandwiches, salads, fruit, snacks, or vegetarian friendly items — all with quick service in mind.

Smart Architecture: A clean, minimal design with standing-height tables is conducive to quick stops and high customer volume yet still allows comfort and service.

This initiative marks another step in American’s broader strategy to redefine premium travel experiences across its network. In addition to the Charlotte rollout, the airline is investing in its Flagship Lounge experience, including a new à la carte concept in Philadelphia (PHL) and upcoming developments in Miami (MIA) — reinforcing its position in key hub markets.

“As the airline’s second-largest hub, Charlotte plays a critical role in our domestic and international network,” said Ralph Lopez Massas, Senior Vice President of CLT Operations. “This new concept reflects our ongoing investment in customer experience and infrastructure, ensuring we continue to serve millions of travelers each year with excellence.”

A Hub with Global Reach

Charlotte Douglas International Airport remains central to American’s growth strategy. With over 670 peak-day departures to more than 170 destinations across 27 countries, CLT is a vital node in the carrier’s global operations. This summer, American is operating its largest-ever transatlantic schedule from Charlotte, including new nonstop service to Athens, Greece (ATH).

Access to the Provisions Lounge

Access to the Provisions by Admirals ClubSM lounge will follow the same entry policies as traditional Admirals Club locations. Eligible passengers include:

  • Admirals Club members
  • Citi/ AAdvantage Executive cardholders
  • oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members traveling on eligible itineraries
  • Customers flying internationally in eligible AAdvantage status tiers
  • One-Day Pass holders (available for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles)
  • Rethinking the Lounge Model for Modern Travel

American’s introduction of the Provisions lounge concept signals a shift in lounge strategy — one that acknowledges today’s fast-paced, efficiency-driven travel environment. By combining accessibility with great service, American is improving its physical presence at CLT and raising the level of experience for business and leisure travel at a high frequency.

Just as air travel continues to evolve with each passing day, these innovations are a signal that the airlines continue to focus on delivering a comprehensive, passenger-focused platform, both in flight and on the ground.
